Meeting Minutes
May 19, 2011 7:30 p.m.
Newbury Town Hall

Present: Judy Barnhart, Mark Fritsch, Roger Mesak, Wayne Mansfield, Jim Stefancin, Les Ober, Guests: Trustees David Snively & Jan Blair

Meeting called to order at 7:40 p.m. Minutes of April 21 approved.

OBERLAND PARK DEVELOPMENT
May 7 Special Meeting
Results of meeting at Pavilion site related: reduce volleyball to one court only and place east of pavilion; playground moved south of pavilion; drop-off drive originally placed on north side then relocated to west edge of pavilion.

Landscaping
Waiting for dry weather. Area marked off.

Volleyball pits
Fairmont minerals waiting for dry weather to install. It will be built according to regulations. Roger would like to see plans before built. Probably won’t be ready for dedication.

Pavilion
Drop-off drive has been installed and materials for base on site. Ironman ready to do concrete layout

Flag
Roger will get a 3x5 flag for dedication. Has a larger one that was his father’s that he is willing to donate for flag pole. Will try and locate.

Picnic Tables
Rain delayed building of tables. Plan to start them this Sunday and have 6 done for dedication. Oberland Maple to donate $100 toward 6th table.

Ballfield
Grass on field is coming in a little better now. May improve when warms up. Material leaching out of soil on hillside above ballfield was checked by ODNR. Determined it was not gas, oil or other hazardous material but iron leaching out of ground.

Driveway
North side of triangle widened and filled in.

Pavilion Usage
Jan passed out copies of Munson Township pavilion usage rules and application. Park Board to review for next meeting. Need to decide as groups are requesting use of pavilion. 4th grade would like to use for end of the year picnic on June 6th.

Donation
Ralston LLC donated $2500 to township to be used for park board projects only.

Memorial Day Dedication
Arrangements have been made to dedicate park on Memorial Day, May 30. Activities to start at 1:00 with dedication at 2:30. Events include: band, singer, flag ceremony, food, prizes, short speech, possible nature/history walk.

Bathroom
David to check with Bob Weisdack of County about application process to EPA for building a septic tank outhouse. Should go through easily if water not involved

Next Regular meeting: Thursday, June 16, at 7:30 p.m. at Town hall.
